Your phone silently tags every photo with GPS, camera model and timestamps. Photo MetaClean strips them before you share — no re-encode, no quality loss, no cloud.
Photo MetaClean is free and open source · 8 MB single file, no installer, no dependencies
A smartphone photo can reveal your exact location, camera model and capture time. See exactly what leaks before you share it.
Removes the GPS IFD with latitude and longitude from JPEG EXIF. The extension and coordinate tags are gone at the byte level.
Rewrites the container and drops the metadata segments. Pixel data is copied byte-for-byte — a photo stays a photo, just without the hidden payload.
--self-check builds a synthetic image with EXIF, GPS and comments, strips it, and asserts nothing survived.
pip install -r requirements.txt — actually, nothing to install: this is 100% Python standard library.python -m tools.photo-metaclean photo.jpg --verbose — see what's hidden in your photo.python -m tools.photo-metaclean photo.jpg --clean — write a sanitized copy as photo_clean.jpg.python -m tools.photo-metaclean --self-check — verify the tool works on your machine.
